HINT FOR THIS SATURDAY NIGHT’S THEME (6.22.13)

19 Jun

HINT:

Only two shows left this season. How will I spend the penultimate hour of Turntable For One? Doing card tricks? Demonstrating how to knit a two-stitch twist cable? Handing out summer listening assignments? All of the above? A fourth thing that is a surprise?

Now that I’ve got you at the edge of your seat, be careful not to fall off and hit your head because then you’d miss the show on Saturday night.

HINT FOR THIS SATURDAY NIGHT’S THEME (6.15.13)

12 Jun

HINT:

I just found out I have an audience who listen to all my shows, in fact, they listen to every word I ever say, and, sadly I’ve been ignoring them — but not this week! To make up for it, I’m dedicating the entire show to them Saturday night!

PROGRAM NOTE:

This Friday night I’ve been invited back to The Night Cafe — believe me, no one is more surprised than I am.  However, the host, Will Duchon is taking the night off.  (I don’t know about you, but I don’t believe in co-incidences.) So I’ll be sitting in for Will on a special, “60s Night At The Night Cafe.” Songs of the 60s, but not the way you remember them.  Friday night, 10:00 PM!

29 May

HINT:

I’m throwing a musical party this Saturday night, but before you break out the hats and horns, better check out the menu: sour grapes, bitter aftertastes, and stew in your own juices.

Also I’ll be sitting in with Will Duchon on The Night Cafe this Friday night at 10:00 PM with another hour of jazz vocals.

Talk to you Friday and Saturday Nights!

HINT FOR SATURDAY NIGHT’S THEME (5.25.13)

22 May

HINT:

Old-timey songs plus violins, accordions, ukuleles, and even harps – - I know, it sounds like a nightmare New Jersey wedding, but no! This week Turntable For One is totally going “back to the FUTURE.”

HINT FOR THIS SATURDAY NIGHT’S THEME (5.18.13)

8 May

Okay, let’s try this again, and this time I’ll go in and do the show.

HINT:

This week I might play “I’m In The Mood For Love,” but I won’t play “In The Mood.” I might play “I Think It’s Going To Rain Today,” but I won’t play “Stormy Weather.” I might play “I Talk To The Trees,” but I won’t play “Willow Weep For Me.”

BONUS HINTS AS A REWARD FOR YOUR PATIENCE:

I might play “You Are Too Beautiful,” but I won’t play, “But Beautiful.” I might play “I Remember You,”  but I won’t play “Memories Of You.”

Have you guessed the theme yet? Tune in this Saturday night to find out if you’re right, or to keep me company, at the very least.

NO HINT NECESSARY FOR THIS SATURDAY NIGHT’S THEME (4.20.13)

18 Apr

This Saturday night be there to witness with your own ears the first-ever Turntable For One-Night Cafe Musical Smack-down.

For the past year, Will Duchon, host of The Night Cafe (Friday nights at 10:00 PM on WMNR) and I have been trading barbs — and I don’t mean trading women named Barbara so don’t even think of calling Gloria Allred!! Now it’s time to see who plays the best jazz vocals. Now it’s time to put up…or maybe it’s time to put down. I can’t remember which, but I’m sure there will be plenty of both when Will joins me in the studio this Saturday night on Turntable For One. Be there! Attendance will be taken!
