These are perilous times, especially for anyone who hates cliches. However, to show my true patriotic stripes, tonight on Turntable For One in a demonstration of economic austerity, I out-sourced all of the vocalists — to Canada. Not one of these vocalists was born in the U.S. of A., although many of them do have certain facial resemblances to actual Americans. Stay vigilant.

Well spotted! Thanks so much for playing ‘For No One’ by Veronneau…the Washington DC band fronted by Quebecoise vocalist Lynn Veronneau. We have a new CD just released this week, Jazz Samba Project. Inspired by 12 months of research into the original 1962 Jazz Samba album by Stan Getz and Charlie Byrd – the only jazz album ever to go to #1 in the pop chart and become a global sensation which introduced Bossa Nova to the world.
Lynn’s planning a road trip home to Quebec via Connecticut in July. We’re honored to be played on WMNR’s “Turntable for One”….we’ll be sure to tune in as we drive by!
Hi, Ken —
I know about the new CD and Mark and Josh at Groovmarketing, who sent me “Joy Of Life,” are sending me the new on. I hope it arrives in time for me to play it before my season ends. During July and August the station pre-empts my show for broadcasts from Tanglewood. The BSO are such bullies. Best of luck with the tour and the new CD. The first CD will be a hard act to follow; still, I have no doubt the band will find exciting ways to bring new life to this 50-year-old classic album.
