PLAYLIST FOR “MISTAKES, REGRETS, AND DO-OVERS” (1.30.16) #jazz #jazzsingers #jazzradio

31 Jan

“Mistakes, Regrets, and Do-Overs” – it’s not just the title of my upcoming posthumous memoir, it’s also the music theme for the week.  If you missed the show, well, I’m sure that’s a mistake you already deeply regret, especially after glancing down the playlist of great singers and songs. Don’t fret. There’s hope. You’ll get a do-over next Saturday night at 9:00. Try to be on time so that you can be sure to get a seat.

I’M BACK!!!

I haven’t been in the studio for several week, but I’ll be making my triumphant return to live radio this Saturday night…unless the radio station changed the locks so my key doesn’t work.

HINT:

Mistakes – we all make them. Regrets – we all have them. Do-overs – sometimes we get them. What does this have to do with this week’s musical theme? Absolutely everything!

HINT ABOUT THIS SATURDAY NIGHT’S THEME (1.16.16) #jazz #jazzradio #jazzsingers

14 Jan

HINT:

I won’t be in the studio this week because I’ve been granted an exclusive interview with El Chapo for the A.A.R.P. magazine.

Sitting in for me will be Fred Velardi, host of WMNR’s Tuesday Morning Classics, and I know Fred will give you two hours of jazz and jazz vocals that will be entertaining, engaging, and thoughtful. But don’t get used to it. I’ll be back on January 23rd.

As Turntable For One moves into its new time-slot (now 9:00-11:00 PM) I wanted to do a show about being all alone in the radio station since my friend, Dan Lenore, has retired his show which preceded mine.  I thought that paying tribute to him would be easier than paying back the money I owe him. I’ll let you know how that turns out.

WHY IS THIS MAN SMILING? #jazz #jazzradio #jazzsingers

2 Jan

IMG_1149

Why is this man smiling? (Sadly, this is what actually passes for this man smiling.) He’s smiling because starting tonight, January 2nd, his radio show, Turntable For One, moves to 9:00 PM with two hours of great jazz vocals interrupted occasionally by this man talking and, perhaps, even smiling – who can tell? It’s radio.

The theme for this first two-hour show: Music That Changed My Life!

Happy New Year, everyone!
