PLAYLIST FOR “13TH ANNUAL MUSIC TO BE THANKFUL FOR” (11.26.22)

29 Nov

One of my favorite shows of the year when I get to play some of the music I’m most thankful for, introduce some of my broadcasting colleagues (-B) who play music they’re thankful for, and introduce singers, like young Anais Reno and a young Ukrainian jazz singer still living in Kiev, Alina Zalozna, who talked about singers who have had a major influence on them. Plus, because it was my birthday weekend, it was also Family Night At The Radio Station and I was joined by my wife and a recorded intro from my son. (Check out the Turntable For One w/ H. William Stine Facebook page for a few photos and a video clip from the night.)

PLAYLIST FOR “HALLOWEEN PARTY 2022” – (10.29.22)

31 Oct

One of my favorite shows of the year, not just because I get to play some favorite Halloween songs, but because when trick or treaters come to the door, I get to guess who they’re dressed up as. Of course, instead of handing out candy, I play a song that matches their costume. This year, somehow, a cat rang the doorbell, so I played a couple songs in honor of National Cat Day. By the way – and no surprise here – Holly Cole won the prize for the spookiest song. It may not be a Halloween song, but it’s fabulously scary, if you ask me.

PLAYLIST FOR “WORDS FOR WORDLE” (5.21.22)

30 May

Axiom…Thumb…Under…Triad -I know, it sounds like some words I missed on a sixth grade spelling test. Well, they’re also words I’ve been using to play the addictive, time-suck word game, Wordle, figuring out the five-letter word of the day. Probably many in my audience play Wordle during my show. You can imagine how happy I am not to have their full attention. Putting that aside, I offered them a bunch of five-letter words to improve their game. Who says public service radio is dead?
