This was the week of WMNR’s Fall Fundraising Drive and many of the broadcasters and staff took to the airwaves to ask, cajole, exhort, plead, beg for listeners to call in to make a pledge. I tried to be a little more laid back, subtle, and subliminal, playing songs with telephone in the title or lyrics. Plus I also asked, cajoled, exhorted, etc., etc. to make a few buck for the station. Wondering what Just In Time and The Party’s Over has to do with the telephone? Here’s the Turntable For One gang gearing up to do our part for the WMNR Fall Fundraising Drive. (I’ve been told that this year the guns are probably filled with blanks). Saturday night I’ll be taking calls and taking names (and pledges). I’ll also be dropping a few subliminal hints to call me by playing all kinds of songs about telephones.

Do you know how many holidays I missed during my show’s two-month summer hiatus? You probably don’t because you have real lives and don’t spend your week desperately trying to think of some kind of ironic new musical theme. But this week I told the audience to forget their night caps and put on their party hats while I celebrated Holidays That I Missed. (By the way: all of these holidays are real.)
