HINT FOR THIS WEEK’S MUSICAL THEME (7.3.21)

30 Jun

HINT:

Waving Goodbye 1

It’s the last show of this season; so come wish me bon voyage on my two-month vacation. I won’t be saying goodbye, because a couple dozen wonderful singers will be doing it for me. (Hey – It just occurred to me the radio station didn’t buy me a return trip ticket.)

PLAYLIST FOR “REDUX” (3.20.21)

21 Mar

I divided the show into two parts this week, one part the traditional Turntable For One party for St. Patrick’s Day, replete with Irish singers and musicians, Irish-American singers and musicians, and the most important Turntable for One tradition of all: me eating a bowl of Lucky Charms on the air. To celebrate the fact that this was my first live show from the station in a long, long while, in the second part of the show I shared some of the music that helped get me through the last 12 months of sheltering in place. So nice to be back, like Spring flowers, green grass, and seasonal allergies.

PLAYLIST FOR “A MUSICAL TRIBUTE TO UNCERTAINTY” (3.6.21)

7 Mar

Robert Frost, “The Road Not Taken”

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could.

Okay, everyone finds this poem iconic and inspiring. Really? Do you know where these roads go? I don’t. Do you know if there are bears or poison ivy or rest stops? I don’t. So how can you be so certain you’re making a good decision and not a bad mistake? You can’t! You can’t be certain and that’s about the only thing you can be certain of. Especially when I spent two hours presenting A Musical Tribute To Uncertainty. (Did everyone love it? Well, I’m not entirely certain about that…)
