PLAYLIST FOR “HELLO, I MUST BE GOING” (SEASON FINALE) 6.27.26

28 Jun

The final show of the season. My least favorite sentence to write. I spent a couple hours handing out summer listening assignments until I’m back in the Fall. I also played some favorite goodbye songs to ease the pain of leaving plus a few songs expressing a few final thoughts before I head for the hills.

Of course since I’m getting my old summer job back, I ran through a few of the special, if not unbelievable, ice cream treats I’ll be serving up from my truck. For instance, treats like The Semi-Quincentennial Cone. Free to anyone who can say that five times fast. Or The Reflecting Pool Parfait. It starts out a beautiful bowl of blueberry sorbet, but give it a minute and it turns into a pool of algae. Giving credit where credit is due, I gave a shout-out to our Secretary of Health & Human Services for his help in creating two new treats: The Polio Popsicle  and The Measles Melba. I’m also bringing back an old favorite, a combination flavor called Im-PEACH-MINT. That’s just a sample. Be sure to check out my full menu on my show on Mixcloud (Mixcloud.com/hwilliamstine) or when my truck breaks down – I mean, comes to a neighborhood near you.

AND HAVE A GREAT SUMMER, EVERYONE!

PLAYLIST FOR ” A MUSICAL TRIBUTE TO ANACHRONISMS” 3.14.26

15 Mar

Anachronisms – things that no longer fit the times we live in. And for once I wasn’t the only thing that belonged in that category. Included were also a few songs about things I fear are becoming outdated, things like Democracy, privacy, and kindness.  I also indulged in a cautionary rant about A.I. after discovering a song called Five Cents A Dance that wasn’t the Larry Hart song, was sung by (what I believe is) an A.I. generated version of Kat Edmonson’s unique voice, on an album by someone named Miles LaRoque who put out a dozen album all in 2025!? Deep fakes can sometimes be funny, but real artist are being hurt by people ripping off their talents and this both angers and frightens me.
