PLAYLIST FOR “TURNTABLE FOR ONE CHRISTMAS PARTY 2020” (12.19.20)

20 Dec

Some traditional holiday favorites, both from the show and around my house; plus a demo of a new Christmas song with music by my son, Cody, and lyrics by my wife, Megan. And if that weren’t enough to keep you awake, the worst Christmas song ever written, sung by Robert Goulet. and the traditional, heartwarming retelling of the story of how a beloved Christmas song nearly got me expelled from Hebrew school. Merry and Happy and the best and safest holidays possible for all.

PLAYLIST FOR “11TH ANNUAL MUSIC TO BE THANKFUL FOR” (11.28.20)

29 Nov

Definitely one of my favorite shows every year because it gives me a chance to highlight music I’m thankful for and invite other WMNR broadcasters (B) and some of my favorite singers (S) to talk about and introduce music that’s important to them. Plus, because this show always falls near my birthday, it’s also “family night” at Turntable For One. So my wife and son join me at the radio station to offer their banter and musical selections. This year was different. My wife, Megan, was in the studio with me; our son, Cody, whom we saw at Thanksgiving via FaceTime (just like so many families this year), reported in from the safety of his NYC apartment. Stay well. Stay safe. Everyone.

PLAYLIST FOR “SARCASM OR NOT SARCASM: A TURNTABLE FOR ONE QUIZ” (5.2.20)

3 May

In times of trouble, people turn to Turntable For One for answers. Yes, it’s inexplicable to me, too. For instance…

Dear Turntable For One – I hear there is light at the end of the tunnel. Should I insert that light into my body.     TFO: No – wrong tunnel.

Dear Turntable For One – Can I mix Mountain Dew and Clorox?     TFO: If you’re drinking Mountain Dew, you don’t need the Clorox.

Dear Turntable For One – How can I tell if a politician is really making a sarcastic joke and not just saying something idiotic?   TFO:  Sarcastic jokes and politicians don’t usually go together. But we’ve been hearing a lot about sarcastic jokes in the White House lately. Time for a refresher course on recognizing true sarcasm when you hear it.

(Warning: The quiz included some trick questions.)
