I usually play 10 or 11 singers each week. This week I’m going to double that number! But how???

The first question asked of a composer and lyricist, whether a team or one person: “Which comes first, the words or the melody?” You won’t have to ask that about the songs I’m playing this week because there will be no doubt!

All songs about the pain, the difficulty, the deep and lasting longing, the heart-aching impact of being alone this week. Thanks to everyone who kept me company for the hour!

Unlike the Post Office, Turntable For One delivers on Saturday, and it was great to be back live in the studio. You know me. I don’t like to drop names, but all of these songs did.

I took the week off to renew my poetic license. This required standing for hours in a long waiting line, keeping my head when all about me were losing theirs and blaming it on me; and listening to everyone around me muttering something about “the road not taken.” A really creepy experience. Ok, I’m not so happy with my license photo (why did the photographer tell me not to make eye contact with the camera?), but at least I’m good to go for another year. Talk to you on Saturday night.

The secret of (a happy) life for me starts with wonderful music with sometimes ironic messages, and with only the occasional, unfortunate interruption of a woeful mystery vocalist. See examples below…
