PLAYLIST FOR “SEASON FINALE 2017 – SUMMER LISTENING ASSIGNMENTS” (7.1.17)

3 Jul

I’ll be gone for the next 8 weeks while WMNR broadcasts live concerts from Tanglewood by the Boston Symphony Orchestra. So on the season finale, I assigned music and singers who should be on everyone’s summer listening list. I also threw in a few requests and some music I’ve been wanting to play this season but couldn’t find the right theme.

Although I won’t be doing live shows for a while, I’ll be uploading new podcasts on PRX, the Public Radio Exchange, all summer, here:

Most of these songs are losers, Oscar losers, that is.  (Though none of the singers and musicians are.) Over the last 7 years, I’ve thought of musical themes of songs for about nearly everything you can think of. PLAYLIST FOR “NO ANSWERS, ONLY QUESTIONS!” (3.5.16) #jazz #jazzradio #jazzsingers

6 Mar

I thought we could all use a two-hour break from the endless diarrhetic diatribes of easy answers and dichotomous thinking. Not all questions can be answered in a beat-the-buzzer 90-seconds. In fact, some of the swinging questions I played took more than five minutes just to ask.
