PLAYLIST FOR “A MUSICAL TRIBUTE TO UNCERTAINTY” (3.6.21)

7 Mar

Robert Frost, “The Road Not Taken”

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could.

Okay, everyone finds this poem iconic and inspiring. Really? Do you know where these roads go? I don’t. Do you know if there are bears or poison ivy or rest stops? I don’t. So how can you be so certain you’re making a good decision and not a bad mistake? You can’t! You can’t be certain and that’s about the only thing you can be certain of. Especially when I spent two hours presenting A Musical Tribute To Uncertainty. (Did everyone love it? Well, I’m not entirely certain about that…)

PLAYLIST FOR “KNOWN AND UNKNOWN” (9.28.19)

28 Sep

This week’s show was ripped from the headlines with only superficial wounds as a result. Day after day we find out there are things we do know and things we don’t know. PLAYLIST FOR “HITTING BOTTOM” (5.5.18)

6 May

I know it was wishful thinking on my part, but on Saturday’s show I celebrated finally hitting bottom. No, this wasn’t a tribute to Stormy Daniels, it was a realization that the way things are going, I may not live long enough to see us hit the actual bottom. All the songs and some of the singers know exactly what I meant.  So now, after this show, I can tell myself (or pretend) that things will start to get better. PLAYLIST FOR “FACT OR ALTERNATIVE FACT?” (6-24-17)

25 Jun

It seems now we even disagree about agreeing to disagree. Things are totally out of control. Don’t you agree? So as a person with a microphone (when I remember to turn it on), don’t I have a solemn responsibility to try to provide some clarity and maybe even some answers? Of course I do. But that doesn’t mean I’m going to do it. Instead I presented a couple hours of people arguing and contradicting each other and never finding common ground. You want cumbaya? Watch Dr. Phil. You want some great singers singing some great songs? Check this out:
