PLAYLIST FOR “WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL” (3.10.12)

11 Mar

Thanks for sharing Lawrence Welk’s birthday celebration with me. I will always think of him as one of those musical soldiers, who, even in the face of Daylight Saving Time, was always trying to turn the clocks back. In weeks to come you won’t want to miss other stirring Turntable For One tributes to those singers and musicians who helped make music what it is today, by retiring, giving up, getting into debilitating fistfights, and/or opening up dry cleaning shops. Bless them all.

I’ll put up a hint about next week’s show on Wednesday, and talk to you next week.

Tonight’s Turntable for One, a lesson in the proper use of the preposition (not to be confused with the improper use of the proposition)  was another in our continuing educational series, “No Listener Left Behind.” In weeks to come, don’t miss invaluable lectures on recognizing a direct object, preferably before you hit it and examples of the passive voice in ventriloquism. PLAYLIST FOR THE DESERT ISLAND GAME (2.4.12)

5 Feb

This week we played the Desert Island game — not the one where you fantasize about a dozen androgynous pixies bringing you to a desert island where you and they play sudoku all day and they say you have nice hair. (And just how often do you play that game?) I mean the game where I play two version of the same song and you have to choose which of the two you’d take to a desert island to listen to for the rest of your life — with or without androgynous pixies.

Hope you can get back in time for next week’s show.
