PLAYLIST FOR “CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL DANCE DAY AND MORE!” (4.30.22)

1 May

Saturday afternoon, I guest-hosted American Jukebox, rock hits of the 50s, 60s, and 70s and played music to celebrate International Dance Day and pop stars who have also sung from the Great American Songbook. He gave us so much wonderful, unforgettable music. Wait, you’re thinking of that Frank? I was thinking of Frank Loesser and I tried to squeeze as many gems in his voluminous songbook from movies, Broadway, and popular song into a couple hours as I could. PLAYLIST FOR “ANNIVERSARY” (1.8.22)

9 Jan

2022 is just a week old, but it’s been an eventful week. We observed the one-year anniversary of one of the most disgraceful, unforgettable, unforgivable moments in American history. On a happier note – there are happier notes. WMNR Fine Arts Radio celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2022.  On a personal note, my wife and I celebrated our 52nd anniversary this week. Did we go to a fabulous restaurant?  No, not when omicron is on most menus as a main course. Did we go ice skating? (Something Megan has loved her entire life.) Let me just say that the only things more brittle than my ego are my bones. So we went dancing instead?  Did you hear what I just said about my bones?  Actually, no, that one’s more about my ego.  Which finally brings me to this week’s theme if anyone is still awake. I wanted to celebrate my anniversary and my wife with some of the music that brought us together, some of the music Megan and I discovered together, some of the music that has sustained us. In short: just when you thought this show couldn’t get more self-indulgent, I presented two hours of Music We Love on this Happy Anniversary edition of Turntable For One. (Starting with the music that played when Megan walked down the aisle at our wedding.)

PLAYLIST FOR “IT’S THAT TIME!” (11.6.21)

8 Nov

Something unusual and special happened this weekend. No, my show wasn’t organized and coherent. I said, unusual and special, I didn’t say anything about a miracle. If you’ve been examining or reexamining your life, you’ve probably thought. “Wouldn’t it be great if I could turn back the clock?” Well, this was  your night! The end of Daylight Saving Time.  Time to Fall behind and turn the clocks back an hour. So as what I’m calling a public service, I offered some reminders about turning back the clocks and a few suggestions for what to do with that extra hour. So what I’m calling a good time was had by all.
