PLAYLIST FOR “FOUL PLAY” (6.15.24)

17 Jun

What can you do when you’re in a foul mood except play songs about foul play, and foul weather, andfowl weather, and on and on in that foul trajectory? Plus as an early Father’s Day gift, my wife and son joined me in the studio to talk about Cody’s music and to play the game he and I have played for years: count the number of quotes in a Dexter Gordon solo. It was not a foul time in the least.

PLAYLIST FOR “EITHER/OR” (11.21.15) #jazz #jazzradio #jazzsingers

22 Nov

Each week when I’m putting together a show, I have to decide between so many choices – either a new singer or a classic one; either a familiar song or something more recent; and, most important of all, either libel or slander.  This week I decided to let the singers wrestle with their own Either/Or decisions. Why should I have to do all the work?
