I played musical He Said-She Said this week, and unlike real life, nobody got fired and nobody went to court. Lots of opposing viewpoints and men and women not seeing eye-to-eye, but I also included some classic He Said-She Said duets

PLAYLIST FOR “EITHER/OR” (11.21.15) #jazz #jazzradio #jazzsingers

22 Nov

Each week when I’m putting together a show, I have to decide between so many choices – either a new singer or a classic one; either a familiar song or something more recent; and, most important of all, either libel or slander.  This week I decided to let the singers wrestle with their own Either/Or decisions. Why should I have to do all the work?

PLAYLIST FOR “THE CHINESE FORTUNE COOKIE GAME” (6.6.15) #jazz #jazzradio #jazzvocals #inbed

7 Jun

You’ve all played the game, saying  “in bed” after reading your fortune cookie. Well,  if saying “in bed” turns an ordinary fortune cookie fortune into instant hilarity, think what it will do at the end of song titles? I’ve thought of it. You might want to try it with book titles.

Couldn’t do a live show this week, so I reached into the Turntable For One archives for an oldie but goodie – which happened to be “Oldies But Goodies Week.”

It was “Oldies But Goodies Week” on the show this week, but I didn’t mean the songs. I meant the singers! To sing on this week’s show you needed to be 70-years-old at least; or if you weren’t 70, you had to be accompanied by (at least) a septuagenarian. By the time I’m in my 70s, I hope still to be cutting my own meat. But look what these singers produced even in the late stages of their careers.
