Sure, I promised my audience a special April 1st show with a new recording of Rod Stewart singing “Nessun Dorma,” a YouTube video of The Boy’s Choir of Galway Cathedral singing in Gaelic, “99 Bottles Of Beer On The Wall,” plus a bootleg from a Joni Mitchell recording session where Joni is aiming a profanity-lace rant at her assistant who gave her the wrong bottle of spring water. In addition to playing songs about Stop, Look, & Listen, I spent much of the hour asking anyone who would listen to stop and look into their wallets – I mean into their hearts and make a donation to the WMNR Spring Fundraising Drive. It wasn’t all pleading and begging. After I played Billie Holiday’s blown Take 7 of Glad To Be Unhappy, I gave the audience the opportunity to make a couple of donations if they wanted to hear the completed version. A rewarding time was had by all – especially the radio station.
