PLAYLIST FOR THE SEASON FINALE – PARTING WORDS (6.29.13)

29 Jun

So we have to say goodbye for the summer…

Maybe the show is going on summer vacation, but watch this spot for CD reviews, news about the new, up-coming season, and a lemon merengue recipe that nearly cost me my life.  But if I come up with two out of three, that will suffice, right?

PLAYLIST FOR “THE MELODY CAME FIRST” (3.30.13)

1 Apr

This week I played a number of hit jazz tunes which were so popular that lyrics were added later — sometimes years later — so that singers could add them to their sets. “Holiday For Strings” is an outlier and an anomaly, but if you know Mandy’s version, you know why I couldn’t resist playing it.

PLAYLIST FOR THE DESERT ISLAND GAME (2.4.12)

5 Feb

This week we played the Desert Island game — not the one where you fantasize about a dozen androgynous pixies bringing you to a desert island where you and they play sudoku all day and they say you have nice hair. (And just how often do you play that game?) I mean the game where I play two version of the same song and you have to choose which of the two you’d take to a desert island to listen to for the rest of your life — with or without androgynous pixies.

Hope you can get back in time for next week’s show.
