PLAYLIST FOR “CHRISTMAS PARTY 2024” 12.21.24

23 Dec

The last live show of the year so it was time to party! I told a few bad jokes, made a few insulting remarks, the audience got mad and drank too much. I know, that sounds like every other Turntable For One. What made it a party? Fabulous and favorite Christmas songs from old stars and new. And I recited a prayer for lighting the Menorah, revisited some uncomfortable memories of less-than carefree Hebrew school youth, and played a couple new Hanukah songs. Did I see a Hanukah miracle that night? Yep. My car started after the show even though the temperature had plummeted into the low teens. Happy Holidays, one and all!!

What do these things have in common?

  •      I’d rather have a root canal!

No, these are not descriptions of my show. They’re Cliches – which I wouldn’t touch with a ten-foot pole and, the end of the day, I bend over backwards not to use them as if my life depended on it. Except last Saturday when I gave a Clinic In Cliches!

PLAYLIST FOR “TEACHABLE MOMENTS” (2.22.20)

23 Feb

I thought when you experience a Teachable Moment, you’re supposed to reflect and even have a change of heart. The only reflection I’m seeing these days is in my mirror – and I’m not too happy with those results either. So I played a couple hours of songs about people confronting difficult situations in hopes that the music and messages might be helpful and instructive. PLAYLIST FOR “WHO CARES?” (5.4.19)

6 May

It all started because I was sick and tired of hearing words like mischaracterization, and collusion, and all the words that rhyme with it – contusion, infusion, diffusion, transfusion, confusion, etc. Enough! So I devised a care package, two-hours of songs with a word that seems to fallen out of favor in our vocabulary these days: care.
