PLAYLIST FOR “SALUTE TO MOTHER’S DAY” (AN ARCHIVE RE-BROADCAST) 5.12.18

14 May

How can you improve on perfection? Don’t ask me, but while I was pondering this irrelevant question last Saturday night, I played a show from May of 2017.  Most of the singers were mothers (in the best sense), I tossed in a hefty helping of motherly advice, plus a couple of momma’s boys to help me wish all mothers a happy Mother’s Day.

PLAYLIST FOR “HITTING BOTTOM” (5.5.18)

6 May

I know it was wishful thinking on my part, but on Saturday’s show I celebrated finally hitting bottom. No, this wasn’t a tribute to Stormy Daniels, it was a realization that the way things are going, I may not live long enough to see us hit the actual bottom. All the songs and some of the singers know exactly what I meant.  So now, after this show, I can tell myself (or pretend) that things will start to get better. (I’m not holding my breath, because I know I really won’t live long enough that way.)

Forget Frank; Tony can take a hike; Carmen isn’t coming; and Nina’s a no-show. My special thanks to Carol Welsman (Canada), Sarah Lancman (France), Sinne Eeg (Denmark), Tom Rust (U.K.), and Susie Arioli (Canada) for recording greetings to the Turntable For One audience and introducing a song or performer they admire. Special thanks, also, to Delicatessen Jazz for letting me give the world premiere of a song from their new, soon-to-be-released CD.

PLAYLIST FOR “DUETS WEEK” (4.21.18)

22 Apr

There’s strength in numbers, right? So this must have been one of my strongest shows ever because ever song sung was sung by two singers. Plus the instrumentals were duets, too. I even invited a co-host to join me behind the mic – Alexa, the artificial intelligence assistant. That didn’t go exactly as I thought it would.

HINT FOR THIS WEEK’S MUSICAL THEME (4.21.18)

18 Apr

HINT:

This picture shows:
A) Two people auditioning for the new show, “Dancing With The Walking Dead”
B)  Two people auditioning for “Dr. Phil.”

C)  Two typical Turntable For One listeners.

Here’s a question: What else can two people do together – on the radio, that is! I’ve got a couple dozen examples this Saturday night.
