I reached back into the Turntable For One archives and dusted off golden oldie and one of my favorites from the past few years. This is what I wrote when the show was new:

In the middle of planning this week’s show – A Musical Tribute To The  Venn Diagram – I was forced to face a defining question: What makes Turntable For One Turntable For One? When I started this show, 15 years ago, I promised no bad jokes. That promise went out the window on the first show. Then I promised I’d never play Rod Stewart or Lawrence Welk.  0 for 2 on those.  Finally, in desperation, I promised never to try to sell  skin care products to my audience. This year I was doing all of the begging and pleading because Fine Arts Radio was practicing the fine art of fundraising!   • In tribute to the Supreme Court, I’ve created three special ice cream treats this year.
  • First, we have the Clarence Thomas Ice Cream Sandwich – It’s vanilla ice cream sandwiched between 2 one-thousand dollar bills. How much does it cost? It’s $2005 for most customers – Clarence Thomas just pays with his dignity.
  • I’ve also got the Upside Down American Flag Frappe – It’s Justice Alioto’s favorite –I wasn’t going to sell it this year but my wife made me do it.
  • And last but not least, I’ve got the Supreme Court Banana Split – it’s 3 scoops of delicious ice cream…and 6 bananas. No need to add nuts.
  • I don’t know about you, but I’m totally over Drumsticks – everyone’s tired of Drumticks, right?  I can do better.  This year I’ve got a Breast-and-Thigh Frozen Treat.  It’s white meat and dark meat in a cup, covered with dark chocolate syrup and peanuts.  Look – Don’t blame me – this is what happens when A.I. creates a sundae!

Couldn’t do a live show this week, so I decided to take a stroll down memory lane, a shorter and shorter trip for me. Look what I found! A show from last Spring. Here’s what I wrote about the show at the time…

Until recently my exercise regimen consisted of Running my mouth, Stretching the truth; Rushing to judgment; and Leaping to all the wrong conclusions. Those days are gone. Now I have a Life Coach telling me when to sleep, when to wake up, when to stand, and how far to walk and on and on. And there’s no way I can tell this Life Coach to put a cork in it because my Life Coach isn’t a person – it’s an Apple Watch that’s become the boss of me. So if I have to endure this torture, of course, my audience had to endure the torture with two-hours of songs about exercise. I’d write more but my damned watch is telling me it’s time to stand!
