PLAYLIST FOR “TERMS OF ENDEARMENT” (AN ARCHIVE RE-BROADCAST 1.31.26

1 Feb

Still under the weather and will have to defer the “Game Night” show until next Saturday night. So we heard a show from the archive on Saturday. This is what I said about the show at the time…

Dear, Honey, Baby, Sweetie, Darling, Doll –  no, I’m not quoting from my listeners’ emails. We’re about to enter into another “spin” cycle, a year when anger, accusations, and name calling fill the air and the airwaves. In an effort – futile though it may be – to encourage a kinder, gentler world, I focused this week on some of the nicer words we used to call each other.

PLAYLIST FOR “TOWN & COUNTRY” (2.6.21)

7 Feb

Remember the story we were taught when we were little? It was the story of the country mouse, cautious and practical, and the city mouse, worldly and sophisticated. I know my teachers were trying to teach us to be like the common sense country mouse. And I was never able to convince them that the two mice would be indistinguishable when caught in a sticky trap. And so the debate about which is better – living in the country or living in the city – has gone on and on and on. And it went on during my show, too. Did I throw light on this debate or just throw shade? Did I answer the questions or question the answers? Really? You gotta be kidding. I just tried to fill two hours with songs about the city and songs about the country. Plus a shout-out to the Super Bowl cities. (I let Gloria Estefan represent Florida because I can’t think of a single song about FL or any of its cities I want to hear.)
