PLAYLIST FOR “GOING TO EXTREMES” 10.19.24

20 Oct

It can describe the weather – especially these days; it can describe a variety of sports events; it can describe powerful emotions. This week it described Turntable For One because I spent two hours going to extremes. Plus an affectionate salute and thank you to Terry Gibbs in celebration of his 100th birthday.

Why did I wear a sweater to the show this week? No buttons to struggle with? (I thought we were friends.) PLAYLIST FOR “TURN UP THE QUIET” 5.4.24

5 May

Here are a few recent fan emails.

Dear Turntable For One. Will you keep it down? I’m trying to sleep. (That guy is a regular.)

Dear Turntable For One – Help. I forget how to turn off my radio. Signed, Desperate on Saturday Night.  (I wasn’t able to help her.)

Dear H. William Stine. I keep asking Alexa to play quietly and she keeps saying she doesn’t know that one.

Sense a pattern here? I did. If it’s quiet they want, it’s quiet they got this week.

PLAYLIST FOR “MANNERS MATTER” 11.18.23

19 Nov

What on earth is going on?  Punching in the house of representatives.  Senators challenging witnesses to fight.  Road rage.  Parking lot rage; grocery store rage. What’s next? Library rage?  People: What are you thinking?  What do you need?  Maybe lessons in good manners?  Okay.  We can do that – because this week on Turntable For One, Manners Matter.  Good manners teach us how to dress, what to say (and not say), how to be courteous and kind. Plus I threw in a few bad manners just for contrast. Well, don’t say I didn’t try.

PLAYLIST FOR “WHAT I DID ON MY SUMMER VACATION” – SEASON 14 OPENER (9.9.23)

11 Sep

Well, they didn’t change the locks at the radio station, so I was back live to start a new season. Was I any less self-involved? Do you mean, did I learn anything over my summer vacation? I think this week’s theme answers that silly question. I played music in tribute to some of my travels and tossed in a few songs about thing I didn’t do. I finished the show with some of the music that caught my ear while I was away. Was anyone happy to have me back? Gee, I forgot to ask that question.
