PLAYLIST FOR “ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARTY 2019”

16 Mar

It’s been a Turntable For One St. Patrick’s Day tradition for me to play some jazz singers from Ireland, a few Irish-American (or at least half-Irish-American) singers and musicians, and – always a highlight – for me to eat some traditional Irish food on the air – which, of course, means  a bowl of Lucky Charms. And, as if hearing me struggle and choke wasn’t incentive enough, I made this year’s party a celebration of the songs of Jimmy McHugh, the wonderful Irish-American composer.

I don’t get it why people are so negative about the word, old. Some of our greatest songwriters have used that word in some of their greatest songs.
