PLAYLIST FOR “SEASON FINALE 2024 – Summer Listening Assignments” 6.29.24

2 Jul

You think you’re getting rid of me, but I’m going to be even closer to you when I bring my ice cream truck to your neighborhood.  And what extra-special ice cream treats will I be dishing up this year?  I’m so glad you asked.

  • Still trying to recover from the Presidential Debate?  Try my Biden Brain Freeze Blizzard. After a couple bites, you won’t know where you are; you won’t know what you just said.
  • And speaking of brain freezes…you’re going to love my RFK Jr. triple-decker ice cream cone.  I hide a gummy worm in each scoop.  Enjoy – it’s a no-brainer!
  • Looking for something you can really bite into?  Try my new Christy Noem hot dogs. Just don’t ask me where I got the the meats.
  • Taylor Swift — I don’t have an ice cream about her. I just thought if I mentioned her name, it would be good for business.
  • I know everyone’s talking abut them, but I’ve got them: genuine Lauren Boebert hand-rolled waffle cones!
  • In tribute to the Supreme Court, I’ve created three special ice cream treats this year.
  • First, we have the Clarence Thomas Ice Cream Sandwich – It’s vanilla ice cream sandwiched between 2 one-thousand dollar bills. How much does it cost? It’s $2005 for most customers – Clarence Thomas just pays with his dignity.
  • I’ve also got the Upside Down American Flag Frappe – It’s Justice Alioto’s favorite –I wasn’t going to sell it this year but my wife made me do it.
  • And last but not least, I’ve got the Supreme Court Banana Split – it’s 3 scoops of delicious ice cream…and 6 bananas. No need to add nuts.
  • I don’t know about you, but I’m totally over Drumsticks – everyone’s tired of Drumticks, right?  I can do better.  This year I’ve got a Breast-and-Thigh Frozen Treat.  It’s white meat and dark meat in a cup, covered with dark chocolate syrup and peanuts.  Look – Don’t blame me – this is what happens when A.I. creates a sundae!
  • And remember: At my ice cream truck, there are no Gag orders!   All the gagging starts after you eat the ice cream.

PLAYLIST FOR “ALL ABOUT YOU!” (SPRING FUNDRAISING) 4.20.24

29 Apr

Time for the WMNR Spring Fundraising Drive and in the past, I have asked, suggested, requested, and urged; I’ve begged, pleaded, and beseeched my audience to call me or go on line to support Turntable For One and WMNR. You’re probably thinking, there’s nothing left, Bill. You’ve done it all. Wrong! And this week I went for something different: Pandering. Yes, abject and unabashed pandering! Totally sucking up to what I like to call,  the best damned audience in radio. For once it wasn’t all about me.  It was all about you this week on Turntable For One.

Final show of the season, but I did not go gentle into that good night. I went down swinging. Things like the “Rainbow Sherbet Pride Parfait” (Not available in Florida), the “Unsinkable Titan Treat,”the “Mar-A-Lago Milkshake,” and the “Disney Delight” (also not available in Florida). PLAYLIST FOR “CLIMATE CHANGE HIT PARADE” (6.10.23)

11 Jun

Everyone loved Orange Is The New Black. You know what we didn’t love? Orange Is The New Blue when huge, thick, toxic orange clouds of smoke from Canadian forest fires enveloped our cities, giving new meaning to huddled masses yearning to breathe free. Thanks, Canada. As if sending us Celine Dion wasn’t bad enough. I knew I had to do something sensitive and sympathetic for the millions of people who suffered this week. But instead I chose to exploit this tragedy to get some ironic laughs with tunes from the Climate Change Hit Parade.

What do these 3 things have in common: building a house at the edge of a cliff overlooking the ocean,  launching a nuclear attack – you pick the target, transporting Prince Harry and Meghan from a New York City event to their hotel three blocks away. No, they’re not on my bucket list. Correct answer: They all take Planning! PLAYLIST FOR “SPRING HAS SPRUNG 2023” (3.25.23)

26 Mar

What do these things have in common: a pogo stick, a diving board, a trampoline?  Three things I wouldn’t be caught dead on? True but not what I was thinking. The three worst golden anniversary gifts? Also true but I couldn’t get two hours of music out of that. Answer: they all have springs! And that’s what I celebrated with two hours of Spring songs, with a nod to Spring planting with Mark Jennett, Spring Fever with Gretje Angell, and Spring cleaning with Kevin Mahogany. Proving once again that Turntable For One comes in like a lamb and goes out like a lamb chop.
