Disinformation. It’s a word we’re hearing frequently these days. Some people call Disinformation propaganda; some people with a straight face call it alternative facts. I call it pernicious lies. So I spent two hours defining and explicating Disinformation; and, most importantly, telling people how to protect themselves from it. JUST KIDDING! You know me. Instead, I spent the two hours exploiting this sensitive issue and squeezing every last drop of irony and rueful laughter from it. But before things got too silly, I started the show with a much-too appropriately titled Ukrainian folk song, recognizing the only thing breaking apart faster than my heart is the world

Webster may be the champion of spellers and Fowler the God of Grammar, but my mother was the unchallenged monarch of the mixed message, offering such gems as “Is that a new haircut? Maybe your friends won’t notice.” “That’s a funny joke. Do you think anyone will get it?” “A new job? Wonderful. I hope it’s not too much for you.” (I could go on and on and on – but I think you get the idea.) PLAYLIST FOR “HOW SWEET IT IS” – AN ARCHIVE RE-BROADCAST (10.24.20)

Seems to me the world needs some sweetness even more than when I first did this show last June. Guaranteed “sweet” songs with no sugary aftertaste. Here’s how I introduced the show last summer. 

Sweet – it’s a word that you don’t hear much, especially now. Home Sweet Home? After three months of sheltering in place, what’s so sweet about being home? Sweet Dreams? Its been months since I had one. Sweet Spot? I know what it used to mean, but now it means keeping six feet away from people. Sweet Nothings? That’s still how most people describe the long, rambling opens to my shows (just like this). So I thought it was time to give Sweet a little love. It was only for two hours – then everyone could go back to life as we know it these days.

I thought when you experience a Teachable Moment, you’re supposed to reflect and even have a change of heart. The only reflection I’m seeing these days is in my mirror – and I’m not too happy with those results either.
