Final show of the season, but I did not go gentle into that good night. I went down swinging. For the first hour I handed out summer listening assignments, music my audience should be listening to while my show is on hiatus. Of course, I included my annual segment of ice cream treats from my ice cream truck, my summer job. Things like the “Rainbow Sherbet Pride Parfait” (Not available in Florida), the “Unsinkable Titan Treat,”the “Mar-A-Lago Milkshake,” and the “Disney Delight” (also not available in Florida). The second hour could be subtitled, “The Long Goodbye.”

Sure, I promised my audience a special April 1st show with a new recording of Rod Stewart singing “Nessun Dorma,” a YouTube video of The Boy’s Choir of Galway Cathedral singing in Gaelic, “99 Bottles Of Beer On The Wall,” plus a bootleg from a Joni Mitchell recording session where Joni is aiming a profanity-lace rant at her assistant who gave her the wrong bottle of spring water. All my life people have been telling me, You’re so negative? Why don’t you try to be more positive. Well, for the past month I have been positive – and I’ve been miserable!  Because I have been testing positive on one damned Covid test after another. Those tests have been the most depressing tests I’ve taken since the Myers-Briggs Personality test. But, finally, after a month, I was back, testing negative – and that’s good, right?  But that’s not the way things are supposed to be. Axiom…Thumb…Under…Triad -I know, it sounds like some words I missed on a sixth grade spelling test. Well, they’re also words I’ve been using to play the addictive, time-suck word game, Wordle, figuring out the five-letter word of the day. Probably many in my audience play Wordle during my show. PLAYLIST FOR “DISINFORMATION WEEK” (3.5.22)

Disinformation. It’s a word we’re hearing frequently these days. Some people call Disinformation propaganda; some people with a straight face call it alternative facts. I call it pernicious lies. So I spent two hours defining and explicating Disinformation; and, most importantly, telling people how to protect themselves from it. JUST KIDDING! You know me. Instead, I spent the two hours exploiting this sensitive issue and squeezing every last drop of irony and rueful laughter from it. But before things got too silly, I started the show with a much-too appropriately titled Ukrainian folk song, recognizing the only thing breaking apart faster than my heart is the world
