PLAYLIST FOR “HALLOWEEN PARTY 2023” 10.28.23

It’s that time again. Time for ghost and goblins and ghouls; time for witches, curses, and the walking dead. And that means it’s time for my annual musical tribute to Congress. Whoops – wrong calendar! I mean it’s time for my annual Halloween Party. I play my favorite Halloween songs, and when trick or treaters come to the door, I get to guess who they’re dressed up to be, and then hand out an appropriate song. The final song of the show has absolutely nothing to do with Halloween, but I think it has absolutely everything to do with everything else.

Everyone loved Orange Is The New Black. You know what we didn’t love? Orange Is The New Blue when huge, thick, toxic orange clouds of smoke from Canadian forest fires enveloped our cities, giving new meaning to huddled masses yearning to breathe free. Thanks, Canada. As if sending us Celine Dion wasn’t bad enough. I knew I had to do something sensitive and sympathetic for the millions of people who suffered this week. But instead I chose to exploit this tragedy to get some ironic laughs with tunes from the Climate Change Hit Parade.

PLAYLIST FOR “BROKEN HEARTS FOR VALENTINE’S DAY” (2.11.23)

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! Do you love songs about falling in love? Being in love? Staying in love? If you answered Yes to any or all of those questions, you really had a rough flight on last night’s show. Because I love songs about heartache and heartbreak. So my V. Day gift to my audience was two hours of Broken Hearts for Valentine’s Day. I’m surprised the police didn’t break in to make a cardiac arrest.

My Tenth Annual Halloween party with more treats than tricks. I got to play my favorite haunting melodies with  a number of them sung by some of my favorite ghosts. Of course, my favorite part every year is the game of being visited by trick or treaters and having to guess their costumes. Instead giving them candy, I hand out appropriate songs.
