PLAYLIST FOR “TERMS OF ENDEARMENT” (AN ARCHIVE RE-BROADCAST 1.31.26

1 Feb

Still under the weather and will have to defer the “Game Night” show until next Saturday night. So we heard a show from the archive on Saturday. This is what I said about the show at the time…

Dear, Honey, Baby, Sweetie, Darling, Doll –  no, I’m not quoting from my listeners’ emails. We’re about to enter into another “spin” cycle, a year when anger, accusations, and name calling fill the air and the airwaves. In an effort – futile though it may be – to encourage a kinder, gentler world, I focused this week on some of the nicer words we used to call each other.

PLAYLIST FOR “PLAYING NICE” 11.15.25

16 Nov

It started when we were kids, I mean little kids. Our teachers would tell us. Our parents would tell us. Our aunts and uncles, cousins, and sometime even the mail carrier would tell us: Play Nice! (Of course my parents also told me not to lock my little sister in the trunk of our Chevy Impala – but that’s for another show). Playing Nice – it’s a phrase, an admonition, and a concept that’s kind of gone out of fashion these days.  But not while I have this microphone, because for two hours, I just played nice – nice songs by singers and musicians who know how to play nice.

About 5 years ago, I did a show called, “I Ain’t Got Nothin’ But The Blues.”  Back then, the country – and the  world – were reeling under a pandemic. PLAYLIST FOR “SONGS ABOUT SONGS” AN ARCHIVE REBROADCAST 9.20.25

I reached back into the Turntable For One archives and dusted off golden oldie and one of my favorites from the past few years. This is what I wrote when the show was new:

In the middle of planning this week’s show – A Musical Tribute To The  Venn Diagram – I was forced to face a defining question: What makes Turntable For One Turntable For One? Well, it’s been quite a week, hasn’t it? A real crash course in highs and lows; ups and wow – what downs! After this week, 401k only refers to a pitcher’s strikeout record.
