We all have them. We may try to hide them with varying degrees of success or failure because – let’s face it – they totally reveal us, they embarrass us, and the worst ones can actually define us for the rest of our lives. Of course I’m talking about our high school yearbook photos. Of course I’m not talking about our high school yearbook photos. I’m talking about Bad Habits. Don’t you love it when Nat Cole sings one of his signature songs, for instance, Smile? Someone else sang that this week. What about any recordings of Sinatra singing Angel Eyes? Someone else sang that too, because this week great singers and musicians paid tribute to other great singers and musicians in a two-hour love fest of “Singing Their Praises.” I also tossed in a few of the originals lest we forget how original their music was.

This was the week of WMNR’s Fall Fundraising Drive and many of the broadcasters and staff took to the airwaves to ask, cajole, exhort, plead, beg for listeners to call in to make a pledge. I tried to be a little more laid back, subtle, and subliminal, playing songs with telephone in the title or lyrics. Plus I also asked, cajoled, exhorted, etc., etc. to make a few buck for the station. Wondering what Just In Time and The Party’s Over has to do with the telephone? PLAYLIST FOR “SEASON FINALE 2021” (7.3.21)

It was the last show of the season. I’m off for two months replaced by live concerts from the Tanglewood Music Festival. But I’ll be keeping busy, once again firing up my ice cream truck and coming to a neighborhood near you. Here are some of the ice cream treats I’ll be featuring this year. Oh, and I also played a lot of songs about saying goodbye.

Wait till you try a Pandemic parfait. I know. I served this last year but I have a new variant this year. I think it’s a real killer.
This year I’ll be offering the Marjorie Taylor Green Sundae. Heavy on the whipped cream, heavier on the nuts
Of course I’ll have that old favorite, Cookie dough for the kid in you and play dough for the actual kids. They’ll eat it anyway.
How about my newest flavor – I just invented it in Jan. It’s Insurrection Ice Cream. It’s two parts Pabst Blue Ribbon and one part viagra. WARNING: If you have an Insurrection that lasts more than 4 hours, better call your lawyer.
One of my new favorites is Arizona chocolate chip. There are exactly 723 chocolate chips in a pint – we know because someone from Arizona has re-counted them three times.
Want something that’s locally sourced, non-GMO, organic, and recyclable? Try a napkin from the dispenser. My ice cream is a totally different story.
This year’s special offer: when you buy ten q-anon cones you get a free Jewish space laser.
Remember: My staff is fully vaccinated, they don’t wear masks, they don’t wear gloves, and they don’t wear hairnets – maybe I shouldn’t have told you that last one
