PLAYLIST FOR “ELLA FITZGERALD CHALLENGES THE WORLD!” (9.24.16)

26 Sep

This week Ella Fitzgerald took on all comers in a head-to-head, well, really a voice-to-voice competition. She sang standards and some surprising duets; she even challenged Sarah Vaughan in a “forgetting the lyrics” competition (Sarah won) and challenged Shirley Horn to a “slow singing” competition (Shirley won). In last Wednesday’s hint, I asked what was the only thing I haven’t been called during the 5 1/2 year run of Turntable For One. Thanks for all of the suggestions (most of which were unprintable).
