PLAYLIST FOR “HITTING BOTTOM” (5.5.18)

6 May

I know it was wishful thinking on my part, but on Saturday’s show I celebrated finally hitting bottom. No, this wasn’t a tribute to Stormy Daniels, it was a realization that the way things are going, I may not live long enough to see us hit the actual bottom. All the songs and some of the singers know exactly what I meant.  So now, after this show, I can tell myself (or pretend) that things will start to get better. PLAYLIST FOR “NOSTALGIA NIGHT” – AN ARCHIVE PRESENTATION (3.10.18)

11 Mar

I replayed a show from last November because I couldn’t do a live show this week and, considering all the horrendous things that haves happened just since November, I’ve taken to longing for the good old days — of not so long ago. It was nostalgic for when I was smart and my phone was dumb, when a blue state was just me having a bad day, and when Harvey was a six-foot invisible rabbit you really wanted to see and not a creep you never want to see again. We can’t live in the past, but I don’t mind an occasional visit. I’ll be back from my trip down memory lane and in the studio next Saturday night.

PLAYLIST FOR “SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN” (9.23.17)

24 Sep

I’ve been watching with horror the images of the millions of people whose only fault was being in the path of Harvey, Irma, Jose, and Maria. Will we ever be able to think about rain benignly again the way so many popular song writers have? PLAYLIST FOR “FACT OR ALTERNATIVE FACT?” (6-24-17)

25 Jun

It seems now we even disagree about agreeing to disagree. Things are totally out of control. Don’t you agree? So as a person with a microphone (when I remember to turn it on), don’t I have a solemn responsibility to try to provide some clarity and maybe even some answers? Of course I do. But that doesn’t mean I’m going to do it. Instead I presented a couple hours of people arguing and contradicting each other and never finding common ground. You want cumbaya? Watch Dr. Phil.
